According to Hindu traditions, it is customary to pray for all new items before one starts to use them. For vehicles, it is known as Vaahan Pooja wherein the owner of a new car prays. As it brings harmony and avoids bad luck in the future. This ritual is important because it not only shows gratitude to God for good luck. But is also believed to protect the car and its driver from mishaps and accidents.
When to Have a New Car Pooja?
Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered holy for new car pooja. Because Angarakha (Mars) and Saneeswara (Saturn) are the Navagraha lords who govern everything related to vehicles. Auspicious occasions such as Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, Akshaya Tritiya, Gudi Padwa, Dhanteras, and Bhai Dooj are good days for Vaahan Pooja.
How to Conduct a Vahaan Pooja?
Like other rituals, a Vaahan Pooja is also conducted by sprinkling holy waters and chanting sacred mantras, evoking the higher powers.
Hinduism is a blend of modernity and traditions. And believing in everything as a manifestation of the Supreme God is one of the key tenets of our religion. Thus, a Vaahan pooja serves to welcome a new element into our lives. Also, protect it from any harm that might befall it.
